World Class Musician At Fort Tilden
Having toured in over 300 cities, and played at places as near as Carnegie Hall and the Bronx Museum of the Arts and given master classes as far away as the Ukraine, horn player Barbara Oldhan, the founding member of Quintet of the Americas, is ready to bring her art to Rockaway.
Oldhan will be the guest of the Rockaway Artists Alliance (RAA) on Monday, April 13. Starting a 7:30 p.m. she will be speaking about and demonstrating some of her work as a musician at the RAA’s T-7 Gallery.
Besides performing with the worldrenown Quintet of the Americas, Oldham has also taught at NYU and Brooklyn College and internationally. She has also been principal horn of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Colombia and Opera Northeast, and guest principal horn with the National Symphony of the Dominican Republic.
“We are very pleased to bring guests like Ms. Oldhan and a wide world of art to Rockaway,” an RAA spokesman said. “And we’re very pleased to share Rockaway with the world!”
RAA hosts meetings on the second Monday of every month. March’s guest presenter, artist and editorial cartoonist Thomas Kerr, brought an engaged crowd of more than 50 people.
