Beach 116th Tree Giveaway a Success

The Beach 116th Street Partnership hosted a wildly successful free tree giveaway outside of Station Wine & Liquor on Sunday, March 30.

As part of the MillionTreesNYC initiative, the New York Restoration Project donated 200 trees to the Beach 116th Street Partnership to give away at the event and they went quickly. “The event went really well despite the terrible weather. We ran out of trees an hour and a half into the event—all 200 trees went fast,” Krzysztof Sadlej, executive director of the Beach 116th Street Partnership said.

The next free tree giveaways take place this weekend. The Cornell University Cooperative Extension and Habitat for Humanity of Westchester will hold one at 60 Market Street in Breezy Point from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 5. Another giveaway, hosted by the Rockaway Beach Civic Association, will be held the next day, April 6 at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club at 533 Beach 126th Street from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
