Jen’s Fitness Forum

By Jen Font de Bon

The thoughts and feelings that go through our heads affect our physical realities. This can be a difficult concept to grasp, especially in today’s society where people need to “see it to believe it.” Yet numerous studies and experiments demonstrate that what goes on in our minds plays a part in our wellbeing and the events that happen to us.

One of my favorite investigations that shows how thoughts, attitudes, and feelings have tangible consequences was performed by Japanese doctor Masaru Emoto. Doctor Emoto began examining and comparing frozen water crystals under a microscope in the mid-1990s. His experiments focused on how water crystals changed in different environments and situations. After exposing water to letters, pictures, music, and prayer, Doctor Emoto observed it in crystalline form under a microscope and photographed the results.

He discovered that positive words, pictures, music and prayer led to the formation of beautiful, more symmetrical crystals, whereas negative words, pictures, music and prayer caused the crystals to take on deformed and disfigured shapes.

We understand only a tiny percentage of all there is to know about this world. It’s important to keep an open mind and embrace new discoveries and ideas.

You can see from the images how energy, thoughts, beliefs, words and feelings affect the molecular structure of water. Now think about the influence these things have on people and life events.

It is natural to believe that you feel or think a certain way because of your circumstances, yet perhaps it’s the other way around. Maybe it’s your mindset that puts you in your conditions.

We are what we eat and what we feel, and this is reflected in our happiness. Stay connected to the world that you live in, not just on a material level, but also spiritually and emotionally. By existing in permanent gratitude for your families, friends and environment, you achieve a better wellbeing for your community and yourself. If a loved one is feeling bad, help him or her recuperate with positive words and affections. Finally, tune in to your body, mind, heart and soul. Just because you think that you have a positive outlook doesn’t necessarily mean that you really do.

Remember, everything is connected in one way or another.
