Winners! The NY Stars Midget 16U team takes home the Long Island Amateur Hockey League Championship. Winners! The NY Stars Midget 16U team takes home the Long Island Amateur Hockey League Championship. The Greater New York City Ice Hockey League posted a big “Great Job!” to the NY Stars Midget 16U team and and their coaches and parents on winning the Long Island Amateur Hockey League (LIAHL) Championship.

Likewise supporters offered their congratulations to Brian Ostrander, George Clark, Tommy Laible and the team on their great showing at the LIAHL tournament.

The GNY Stars skated against the LI Edge on Sunday, March 9th, at the Abe Stark Arena in Coney Island, besting them by a score of 3-2.

The GNY Stars now head for the “States.” That’s the 2014 NY State Amateur Hockey Association (NYSAHA) Tier II 16U State Tournament in Buffalo, New York from March 14th to 16th.

The competing teams, from all over New York States, are the GNY Stars, LI Edge, LI Rebels, Massena/St. Lawrence, Niagara Jr. P.E, Monroe County, Bud Bakewell and New Hartford.

The Tournament winner will go onto the Nationals in Virginia on April 5th.
