Keep the Parade!

Dear Editor:

As a 30 year supporter of the Rockaway St. Patrick’s Irish parade, I was dismayed to read Tom Morgan’s letter last week suggesting that it be terminated because of the unruly few whose intoxicated conduct spoils it for those who look forward to celebrating their Irish heritage once a year.

It is not the supporters of the parade who should be punished, but the spoilers who have no respect for others and need lessons in good manners. They should be praising the splendid marchers, dancers, bands and others who take part in this event.

Don’t end the parade, but eliminate the young people’s conduct by identifying them. Next year everyone should bring a camera and snap these rabble rousers and put their pictures in The Wave.
