EDC Seeks Qualified Help For Boardwalk Work
The New York Economic Development Corporation wants locals to help with the boardwalk rebuild. NYCEDC is preparing to release a Second Request For Qualifications (“SRFQ”) on Friday, March 7th.
The announcement was made on Wednesday at an informational meeting at the Far Rockaway Library.
The SRFQ is seeking qualifications for 16 types of construction contractors: concrete, Marine, electric, plumbing, site work, landscaping, pile driving, structural steel, ornamental metal, carpentry/ timber, sand dredging/stockpiling, site fencing/removals, steel piles, pre-cast concrete, and general contractors.
Darryl Zuk, a Capital Program Project Manager told The Wave that an informational meeting for prospective contractors will be held next Wednesday, March 12th at 2 p.m. at EDC located at 110 William Street in Manhattan. While the EDC website urges any contractor who wishes to attend to RSVP to RockawayRFQ@nycedc.com between March 7th and March 11th, Zuk said that contractors should “come to the 6th floor, check in and then we'll show you [where to go]."
Interested contractors can visit the project site at www.nycedc.com/project/ rockaway-boardwalk-reconstructionproject prior to submitting their proposal. Full details of each trade and detailed submission guidelines and requirements are outlined in the March 7th SRFQ.
Contractors can pick up the SRFQ inperson at EDCs office between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Solicitation documents can also be downloaded at www.nycedc.com/RFP. SRFQ are due back at 4:00 pm on April 11.The selection of contractors is scheduled to be announced on, or about, May 16.
