It’s All Net For St. Rose

The St. Rose of Lima 6th Grade Bantam basketball team edged towards the diocesan quarterfinal in a nail biting battle against local rival St. Frances de Sales of Belle Harbor.

In what some described as “a battle for the ages”, St. Rose squeaked out a victory after several lead changes in the fourth quarter.

John Daudelin broke a tie with a baseline jumper at 1:20. Darius Peterson iced the game with a clutch free throw after a crucial rebound by Isaac Daudelin with seconds left on the clock.

Both teams played their very best and when the buzzer rang out there was a sense of mutual admiration and respect between the two teams.

According to St. Rose organizers, “There are two more years for this intense rivalry to grow. Coach Joe Featherston and his team are to be commended for their intense effort.”
