Rosie Lee Chandler
Rosie Lee Chandler, a park nursing home employee, died on February 3rd at age 76.
A Rockaway resident for more than 50 years, Chandler was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and the Young Adult Choir and Gospel Chorus.
Chandler is preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Chandler; daughter, Georgia Lee Chandler; brothers, Albert Sykes, Eddie Sykes, Jr., Willie Sykes, and James Sykes and sisters, Catherine, Emma Jean and Clara Bell Sykes.
She is survived by her son, M.C. Chandler (Carolyn Chandler), daughter, Shirley Oliphant; sisters, Classie Mae Sykes (George), Della Nance (Levi) and Susie Johnson; former daughter-in-law, Deborah Chandler; grandchildren, M.C. Kaheem Chandler, Elton Chandler, Robert Oliphant, Koreem Oliphant, M.C. Kareem Chandler, Kimberly Oliphant, Allison Chandler and Malinda Chandler; 18 great-grandchildren; her “Special Hearts,” Ashante Oliphant and Richard Oliphant; sspecial nieces, Ruth Jones, Mattie Jones, Bobbie Jones and Mary Jones; sspecial friends, Ayeasha Rahman, Reverend Ruth Brown, Ruth Johnson, Sylvia Bryant, Gloria Abdul, Carrie Bell Shell, Patsy Bracker, Juanita Johnson, Tina Daniels, Jimmie Fletcher, Hope and Rodney Green and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home in Inwood.
