Taking On Intern’s Take

To Ilyassha Shivers (Intern’s Take):

You should have started your article with the statement of "Today’s athletes stay away from fighting for the rights of the people" (Wave, February 28th) and elaborated on that subject. Instead you chose to put it below the plantation remark, agreed with it.

Wow, that was irresponsible of you. Do you have some inside knowledge that you didn't share? Unless you have legitimate percentages of applied and denied statistics it sounds to me that your 60 percent just isn't stepping up to serve others as you yourself said.

How many players that made millions and millions of dollars to play have tried to buy a franchise and been denied? What about the players who make far less and therefore may be playing more for the love of the game. How many qualified themselves in college to pursue a second career to mentor and teach the next generation in the head office or on the court and were turned down?

Perhaps they applied themselves, achieved their goals and are living the

American dream in retirement (some better than others, like the rest of the population). There's something wrong in just setting a good example now?
