Parent Support Group At St. John's
St. John's Episcopal Hospital's Family Resource Center of Eastern Queens will be offering a free support group from the Circle of Security Parenting Series for parents and caregivers of infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
The series will be held for eight weekly sessions starting on Thursday, March 20th through Thursday, May 8th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The meetings will take place at the Family Resource Center at 148-45 Hillside Avenue, Suite 203, in Jamaica. Parents and caregivers can sign up by calling the Family Resource Center at 347- 644-5711.
“At times all parents feel overwhelmed or challenged by what their child might need from them,” a St. John’s spokesperson explained. “The Circle of Security Parenting program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.”
This group will help caregivers and parents: - Understand and respond to your child's emotional needs; - Help their child manage feelings and behaviors; - Honor their inner wisdom and desire for their child to be secure; - Help their child build a healthy foundation for a lifetime of success; - Understand the importance of attachment in healthy child growth and development.
The groups are free, and participants can get free Metrocards, snacks and childcare upon request. It is designed for parents and caregivers of children from birth to 5- years-old.
