Scholars’ Team Makes School History
Tuesday night, February 25th, the Scholars’ Academy Boys Varsity Basketball Team made history. The team earned the school’s first playoff victory in a match against the High School of Life Sciences’ Jaguars. This is the second year in a row the team made it to the playoffs. The game started off very tight and intense. The first quarter ended 14 to 11 in the favor of Scholars’ Seawolves. By half time they were down by 2 with a score of 30-28. Coming into the second half Scholars’ started playing their own pace of basketball. By the end of the third quarter Scholars’ outplayed the Jaguars 29 to 13. The Seawolves were led by Damani Adams with 21 points and Oneil Smith added 16 points. Byron Cajamarc hit the floor hard grabbing 15 boards on a bad ankle and contributed 12 points. The Seawolves improved their record to 13-4 and look to go further into the playoffs and make a run. As The Wave went to press, they were set to play Pace High School on Thursday, February 27th.
