Lady Seahorses Shine

By Denean Ferguson

The last time that Far Rockaway’s Girls Varsity B Division saw the playoffs was in the 2008/09 season. They lost in the second round. The Lady Seahorses were (2-13) in 2010/11, (3-11) in 2011/12, and a much improved (9-5) last year. This year, ranked 5th, the Seahorses completed the regular season with a (11-2) record, only losing to Scholars’ Academy (14-0). The excitement is here!

Seniors, Fracheska Ramirez and Sade Wright, were leading scorers with 13 points each, as the Seahorses smashed the Hawks of John Jay Campus. Freshman Point Guard, Nykeisha Paul, with 19 points, led all scorers in the 20 point defeat of Eleanor Roosevelt High School in the second round of playoffs. The next game is scheduled for March 6th at East Harlem Pride (14-1). It should be a good one to see. By all accounts, the Seahorses are fighting to get another chance at the Seawolves!
