Continue The Support

Dear Editor:

I was surprised to see an article ("Oh Rats") describing a rodent problem in Rockaway's restaurants. In fact, the establishments in the vicinity of The Wave seem to be very clean. The NYC Department of Health website shows 24 restaurants in zip code 11693. Eighteen of the restaurants earned an A rating, and few have any mention of rodents. So let's continue to support our local restaurants, with A ratings, that are doing a great job. The only glaring exception is Playland Pizza which was closed by the health department on February 12th. They had 48 points of violations noted on December 12th. When they were re-inspected on February 12th there were 55 points of violations, resulting in the closing.

And perhaps The Wave can get some information about current plans for Playland? The building looks closed and there are mounds of garbage in the back area. We would love to know what is happening.
