American Legion members, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Daniel M. O’Connell Post and Queens County Commander Frank Weldon honor the Four Chaplains at St. Francis de Sales Church. The Daniel M. O'Connell American Legion Auxiliary Unit 272 of Rockaway Beach joined Queens County American Legion Commander Frank Weldon and Legion members from throughout Queens at their annual Four Chaplains Memorial Mass at St. Francis de Sales RC Church on February 2nd.

The Four Chaplains are remembered on this day for making the supreme sacrifice aboard the USS Dorchester during World War II.

The day's events were hosted by the O'Connell Post. The women of O'Connell Unit's Auxiliary assist veterans by sponsoring fundraisers during the year to raise funds for holiday tree trimming and summer barbeques at the St. Alban's Veterans Facility.
