Help Bring Back Whaleamina

It has been 16 months since Whaleamina swam away with Sandy. A group is determined to bring the beloved landmark back by holding a fundraiser concert. On Saturday, February 15th, Projects of Peace, Inc. will be holding the First Annual Rockaway Whale-APalooza at the Irish Circle at 10119 Rockaway Beach Boulevard. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. and the concert kicks off with the first act at 7:30 p.m. The fundraiser concert continues until 2:00 a.m. All proceeds will go towards helping Projects of Peace, Inc. rebuild the whale sculpture.

There will be performances by Frank Persico, The Fog, Squid, Mr. Big Deal, Rattrap Bumpkin, Grim Pickens & the High 5, the Kings Heartbeat, Knights of the Round and a DJ set by B3ar. Admission for the fundraiser is $10.

Items and baskets will also be raffled off. Several local businesses have made donations towards this event including Belle Harbor Steak House, Station Liquors, Cuisine by Claudette, Sayra’s Wine Bar, Cross Fit Rockaway Beach, The Gift is Love, Mirkin Vision, Thai Kitchen by the Sea and several businesses in Howard Beach including Claudine’s, Joy’s Nail, Wines & Spirits of Howard Beach, Crystal Jewelers, Sports Depot, Bruno Ristorante, Magic Scissors and Edible Arrangements.
