Addabbo Holding Common Core Town Hall

In an effort to hear directly from his constituents regarding the implementation of New York’s controversial “Common Core” learning standards, NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is holding a town hall meeting on Thursday, February 20th to get feedback and recommendations for improvement from parents, students and educators.

“Common Core has a noble goal: that of preparing all of our children for college and successful careers,” Addabbo said in a press release. “However, its implementation so far has been haphazard at best and nightmarish at worst, causing great concern and stress for children, families, teachers and other partners in our educational system. Changes need to be made, and I want to hear what my constituents think New York should do to reform the standards and change how they are being rolled out in schools across the state.”

Addabbo’s town hall meeting, which he expects to be a series of district “Common Core” gatherings, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at PS 317, located at 190 Beach 110th Street.
