Super Day For Gallagher Sisters At Track Championship

While the rest of America was preparing for Super Bowl Sunday, Patricia Gallagher of Belle Harbor was driving her twin daughters, Jackie and Tessy to the Brooklyn/Queens Championship. The big event was held at the historic 168th Street armory in New York City.

Tessy ran in the first event of the day, the 3,000 meter run. She ran a smart and tactical race with a time of 11 minutes and 17 seconds. A personal record.

Jackie, inspired by Tessy’s win, went out and won the 1,500-meter run in an outstanding time of 5 minutes and 4 seconds. Jackie’s time was not only a personal best but also a new school record for Bishop Kearney High School.

Tessy and Jackie’s performances were truly super as both are only sophomores competing in a varsity race against upper classmen.

Cheering on the sidelines was big sister, Mary Gallagher (Bishop Kearney ’09). Mary was recently crowned Colgate Post Collegiate graduate 1,500 meter champion at the 40th anniversary meet in January.

Bishop Kearney High School congratulates its two new Brooklyn/Queens champions, and their dedicated family.
