Show Veterans Some Valentine’s Love
Why not show veterans some love this Valentine’s Day? The United War Veterans Council is celebrating Valentine’s Day by delivering thousands of Valentine’s Day cards and gifts to military members, veterans and their families at veteran’s hospitals and military bases in New York City, Long Island and New Jersey and they’re looking for donations.
Until February 10th, the group will be collecting Valentine cards, including those that say Happy Valentine’s Day, Thank You for Serving and Get Well.
The cards must be in open, unsealed envelopes and are subject to screening. The group is also collecting gifts such as toiletries (men/women), DVDs, CDs, music, movies, books, crossword puzzle books, electronics, gift phone cards, hats, scarves, gloves, tee-shirts, (pre-packaged baked goods or candy), stuffed animals, deck of cards, games, toys, (children’s items) and more.
As Veterans’ Affairs Liaison for Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, Dan Brown will pick up the items and deliver them to a donation box located at Queens Borough Hall. Those who want to make a donation can contact Brown at 718- 666-6659.
