St. Francis Girls Court Success
The SFDS 3rd Grade Girls Blue Team made great progress this season. The girls honed their offense and defensive skills and had strong game performances.
Kathleen Burns, Kristen McDonnell and Mary Youngberg had great ball handling skills, while Grace Bradwisch, Julia Teich and Leah Meier proved to be strong power forwards. Brigit Butler, Katelyn Mitterway and Kelsie Price were very versatile playing both guard and forward. Catherine Dean and Hannah Mills dominated as centers.
All in all the girls had a great season and look forward to the Peggy Boyle Tournament.
The SFDS 3rd Grade Girls Gold team completed their first season of basketball. The girls have shown great improvements both offensively, defensively and in ball movement.
Tess Howley and Erin Neiswenter dominated at the center position. Caleigh Murphy and Nancy McDade led the team with their ball handling skills at point guard. Natalie DiCapua, Lauren Endall, Ava Mollaghan and Devin Parchment played great defense at the guard position.
Meanwhile Megan Powderly, Lilly O’Neill, Ashley Meade and Maddie Sheridan were great as the forwards. The girls had a great season and are looking forward to playing in the Peggy Boyle Tournament at St. Francis starting at the end of February.
The 7th grade rookie girls have had an up and down season with big losses, big wins and many exciting thrillers that came down to the end. They are currently on a three game win streak lead by Ryan Carlton, Kelsey Flynn, Franny Rose Agoglia, Rian Courtney, Olivia Murray, Hannah Harkins, Alex Dadario, Lizzie Meringold, Victoria Meier, Ginger Kulmann, Riley Mangano and Taylor Scaccia. The coaching staff consists of Matt Courtney, Marty Murray and Jamie Agoglia.
Their first stop in the CYO Playoff Race is verse the winner of OLBS and St. Adelberts to be held on Saturday, February 1st at St Agnes Academic High School at 13-20 124th Street in College Point.

The Novice 'A' 5th grade girls have had a tremendous season so far. They captured the winter Queens of Queens tournament at St. Adalbert's and have thus far made it a perfect season.
This past weekend the girls opened the Diocesan playoffs defeating OL Hope 25-7. The girls were led by Chloe Murphy's 8 points and Brooke Leahy adding 7. Lauren Dean, Kaylie Walsh and Corrine Connelly were stellar on both ends of the court. Nicole Moran, Maria Grzegorski, Olivia Stack, Kelly Erhard and Kieran Price were instrumental in the win as they have been all season. The girls are now getting set for the Diocesan Quarterfinals next weekend.
