Artists have been invited to be creative, imaginative, adventurous, using whatever traditional (or non-traditional) art tools they feel they need to combine in order to fully and successfully express themselves. It runs from February 1st to March 23rd, 2014 in sTudio 7 Gallery, RoCA at Fort Tilden. Reception is Sunday, February 2nd, 12-4 p.m. For more information, please call 718-474-0861 or email jamesrockart116@aol.com

Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday 12-4 p.m. and by appointment. Admission is free.

Queens Council on the Arts is offering an arts workshop entitled, “Go From Artist to Creative Entrepreneur.” It is being held Wednesday, February 12th, 6-8 p.m. at 37-11 35th Avenue (entrance on 37th Avenue), Astoria, Queens.

Tricia M. Taitt, a professional dancer and certified finance and accounting consultant, will be giving the workshop. Financial acuity is essential to an artist who must set budgets, allot money for needs that include supplies and materials, write budgets for grants.

Taitt teaches the fundamentals of personal finance, demystifies the art of budgeting and promotes good business management practices. Admission is free. RSVP is required. Go to queenscouncilarts.org to register.

Are you an avid reader of this scintillating column? Have you considered joining and working with the equally scintillating organization about which it is written? Well, you’ve come to the right place.

Much of the planning, organizing and working is done within committee. Several committees, in fact. You, too, could be in on the ground floor of building the present and future of Rockaway Artists Alliance. We welcome new ideas, intelligent input and good, old-fashioned willingness to serve our community and this thriving community of artists of all kinds.

The following is a list of committee chairs and their contact information. Please feel free to look over the list, see which committee(s) look interesting to you and then contact the chair(s). And please, come to our next general meeting. All are welcome; you don’t have to be a member to attend.
