Plunge for a Cause

Hundreds participated in the Polar Bear Plunge on New Year’s Day by jumping into the chilly waters off the peninsula. Why not do it again for a good cause? The 14th Annual Take the Plunge for Cystic Fibrosis is set for Saturday, February 1st.

The event, which raises funds to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, will take place in Breezy Point. Registration starts at 1:00 p.m. at the Colony Theater at 500 Bayside Drive and the plunge will start at 2:00 p.m. After the plunge, all are invited to attend an after party featuring music by DJ James Tubridy, an open bar, food and raffles.

All plunge participants qualify for free admission and a goody bag with a minimum $75 donation. All non-swimmers can attend the after party for a $50 recommended donation. Those interested in registering or making a donation before the event can do so by visiting www.rockawayplunge.com. All proceeds are tax deductible.
