An Intern’s Take

Looking For Opportunity
By Ilyassha Shivers

They say what doesn't kill you, will make you stronger. The person who said that must have been a sucker for pain. This has been a week that has found me questioning a lot. For starters everyone who says they’re your friend doesn’t want to see you succeed.

I find myself like most Americans trying to make ends meet. And trust me it’s a lot harder than it appears.

The state of the economy has many wondering when will things get better. I have not had a steady job in over five years. And I thank God for my wife and my father. Without their support I don’t know where I would be today. So here we are half way through the first month of the New Year and already those resolutions are out the window. For me it is losing 50 pounds. It sounds impossible but I know I need to do it. My heart and my joints will be thanking me later. And as for finding a job, that goes without saying. At this point I will do just about anything. If you have any leads feel free to send me the info. But seriously when you find yourself between a rock and a hard place the only way things can go is up. And that’s just where things appear to be for yours truly. I don’t want to weigh you down with my issues ....just thought I would let off a little steam.

It’s interesting. They say it’s ok to talk to yourself but sometimes it’s a problem if you answer back.
