In Defense Of The Wave
I wholeheartedly agree with last week’s Editorial regarding Councilman Richards. Fortunately, the myths the councilman tried to pull over on his constituents were swiftly proven to be blatantly false.
The real problem is that this type of cheap point scoring is a systemic plague coming from our politicians. Such irresponsible verbiage from political leaders should not go unaddressed or without ramification. For another example, look no further than Public Advocate James and the mythical fraud she tried to perpetuate on the City last week. Or listen to the inauguration speeches bashing the greatest, most resilient and diverse City in the World by likening it to a “plantation”, “Dickensian” and “a tale of two cities.” Sadly, the list of examples of politicians who try to mislead us for personal and political gain could go on for pages.
The Wave is an excellent weekly neighborhood newspaper. The coverage is head and shoulders in quality and depth above other local papers around the City. Moreover, since Hurricane
Sandy it single handedly has covered every storm related "issue" and provided invaluable up to date information week in and week out for the communities both East and West. Maybe those “issues” are not important to the councilman, but I know they are to his constituents!
