Seniors Knit For A Cause

JASA Roy Reuther Senior Center is giving back. Through the knitting and crocheting club led by teacher Marie Bell, the center was able to donate handmade hats, mittens, scarves and afghan blankets to St. Rose of Lima Church in Rockaway Beach.

All of the donated items were made by the senior members of the club. This donation coincided with the church’s monthly collaboration with St. Vincent de Paul Society and a food pantry also on site at the church rectory. There was a line outside the door and the center was thrilled to make a difference in so many people’s lives.

The JASA Roy Reuther Senior Center knitting club is open to all seniors for free. Members only have to pay for the yarn. The class is held every Thursday at 2 p.m. Call Sydney Lombardi at 718- 471-3110 to learn more about the knitting program and other programs and upcoming activities at JASA’s Roy Reuther Senior Center.
