Alvin Whitfield, a correction officer, died on November 18th at age 67.
A Rockaway resident for more than 30 years, Whitfield served four years as a Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy and he was also in the Air Force National Guard. He was ordained as a minister of the Church of God in Christ in 2011. As an ordained minister, Whitfield lead Bible Band studies and as a singer, he was a part of the Outreach Kingdom Seekers.
Whitfield is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rosalie Whitefield and his wife, Theresa, who he called “Sweets.” He is survived by his children, Duane, Letitia and Turahn Whitfield; siblings, Donald Whitfield, Jackie Marbury and Lorrie Whitfield and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially Deacon Brunner and his great-niece Ashanti Walters.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home in Inwood.
