Beware The Planners

Dear Editor:

So the Boardwalk's old foundation is not good enough? So it's only proposed to last 20-40 years? So "they" want to give us one made of steel that will last longer? Hasn't anybody noticed that the only beach structures that survived Sandy were those built almost a hundred years ago? The old bus shelters, the concessions, and, yes, the boardwalk foundation all survived very well. The boardwalk would still be here too if someone had thought to secure it to the foundation so it wouldn't float away. Let's just hope that the people who are planning this boardwalk are NOT the people who had a say in selecting those dilapidated bathrooms/lifeguard shacks that are already falling apart! How can anyone feel confident in what these city planners are suggesting for our beach after what we've seen them do already??!!
