Rockaway Goes Cruising

Belle Harbor residents Daniel and Patricia McFadden went on a getaway cruise on the new Norwegian Breakaway and were surprised to find a reminder of home.

The New York-themed ship, which made its maiden voyage in the spring, has a tribute to Rockaway. Deck 16 has a map of Long Island and includes aspects of New York’s beaches, but it only mentions Rockaway and Fire Island. Along one of the walls on Deck 16 is a sign that says “Welcome to Rockaway Beach” and seems to be placed on its own boardwalk.

The McFaddens departed on a seven day sailing out of New York on December 1st. The ship made stops at Port Canaveral in Florida, as well as Nassau and a private Island in the Bahamas.
