Gerard “Jerry” Gillia
Gerard “Jerry” Gillia, a teacher, died on December 7th after battling an intractable infection for twelve years. He was 76.
Jerry was a teacher, swimming and water polo coach, water polo Hall of Famer at St Francis College, kayaker, artist, writer and raconteur (Rockaway Writers’ Alliance), theater lover and member of the NYC Labor Chorus.
Jerry met his wife, Beverly, of 50 years on the bus to Rockaway. They raised their family in Park Slope and retired to Rockaway Park in 2004.
He is survived by his wife, children,
Sean (Julie), Beth Ann (Adam) and Jennifer (Richard), and grandchildren, Peter, Haley, Tristan Rose and Erin.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to All Boro Cremation Services in Staten Island. A memorial is being planned for family and closest friends.
