Crash Along Rockaway Freeway

Photos by Susan Locke Traffic slowed to a crawl on Monday afternoon, December 2nd, as police cleared a two car accident at Rockaway Freeway and Beach 54 Street.

The first vehicle, a black late model Acura, suffered severe damage to the front passenger side then apparently spun and struck one of the concrete supports of the overheard subway line.

The second car, a NYPD patrol vehicle, sustained heavy front end damage.

Witnesses spotted two FDNY EMS ambulances leaving the scene.

Although official details were not readily available, an officer at the scene noted that it did not appear there were any serious injuries involved.
