Chanukah Candle Lighting On Beach 116th

Once again, Temple Beth-El of Rockaway Park and other area synagogues will participate in lighting the first Chanukah candle on the Menorah at Beach 116th Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27th, there will be songs, candy, singing and much more. Community clergy will participate in the candle-lighting and a special service. Everyone is invited.

On Thanksgiving morning, November 28th, the community is invited to an ecumenical service to be held at the First Congregational Church on Beach 94th Street, across from the entrance to the Cross Bay Bridge.

This joint service between Temple Beth-El of Rockaway Park and the First Congregational Church has been continuously celebrated for the past 87 years. Each year it alternates between the church and the next at the synagogue.

This years’ service, led by the Reverend Joseph Medlin and Rabbi Allan Blaine will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be completed by 11:30.a.m.

Showing the bond of neighbors special to the Rockaways, this event is open to the whole community and all are invited.
