DMV Vision Screenings Available Locally

There’s no need to go to the DMV to have a vision test done. Under the new Online Vision Registry, having a vision test done locally is even easier as pharmacists, staff supervised by pharmacists and organizations authorized by DMV can now also conduct vision screening tests.

Doctors, nurses and vision care professionals have been allowed to perform vision screenings required by those applying for or renewing a driver’s license in New York State for many years. With the Online Vision Registry, there are now more options, making it easier for people to renew their driver’s license online or by mail.

The professional or organization that performs the test can simply submit the results to the online registry. Due to this, those who renew a license online do not need to enter information about eye test results and those who renew by mail do not need to send form MV-619 or form MV-619R (Vision Test Report) with a renewal application. It can take up to 24 hours for the test results to be entered in the registry.

There are several locations in Rockaway in which people can have an eye exam done and submitted to the registry including; Russo’s Pharmacy at 1909 Cornaga Avenue and Wavecrest Optical Shop at 257 Beach 20th Street in Far Rockaway, Mirkin Vision Care at 253 Beach 116th Street and Jeffrey F. Zwerling MD PC at 11718 Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Rockaway Park and Belle Harbor Chemists at 449 Beach 129th Street in Belle Harbor.
