Breezy Mom Is Working Mother of the Year
McCarthy-Coyne was named a 2013 Working Mother of the Year by the magazine and was honored at a Gala Celebration at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square on October 23rd. The mother of two sons, Sean Padraic, 14, and Edward, 9, is also a successful attorney and dedicates her free time to volunteering.
According to Working Mother Magazine, McCarthy-Coyne is a senior counsel in the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority enforcement group, and coordinates a continuing legal education program for company employees. “She also spearheads a liaison and coordination initiative program across business units that streamlines information sharing, supports consistency and effective case resolution, and spots trends,” the magazine says.
She participates in all of the company’s seven employee resource programs and serves as a mentor in one of the group’s mentor programs. She also serves as the co-chair of FINRA’s Parents Network.
In addition to her work life, McCarthy- Coyne is an advocate for better transportation, education, and other issues. Working with FINRA’s investor education group, she created a program that introduces children to investing, which she shared at her sons’ school. She also volunteers in a religious education program.
McCarthy-Coyne faced another challenge this year as she and her family were displaced for more than eight months after her home was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. The Coyne family recently took a group of eighth grade Confirmation candidates and their parents from Saint Columba parish in Greenboro on a tour of the peninsula. The tour was led by Brother Michael Loerch of Saint Matthias parish in Ridgewood, Queens, where the Coyne family lived while displaced after Sandy. Brother Michael has a group of volunteers that are available about once a month to help with rebuilding such as sheet rocking.
