RWA, RYTF and RAA Join Forces To Say ‘Boo’!
The afternoon event was held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Hip Hop Garden adjacent to the RWA’s Firehouse 59 headquarters on Rockaway Beach Boulevard at Beach 59th Street.
Kids enjoyed walking through a painted maze created by talented artist and former RAA president Geoff Rawling and then picking out their own children-sized pumpkins.
Rawling also created one of a kind Halloween artworks on the former firehouse itself. Many drivers slowed to take a look at the strange creatures and designs scuttling up the building.
Down below children with water paints, markers and stick-ons happily created their own unique designs on their pumpkins.
There was also face painting and live music. Some children also enjoyed dancing and playing in the crisp autumn air.
The kids also enjoyed apples, cider, juice boxes and candy treats.
This was the third annual Rockaway Hip Hop Halloween Celebration.
All three groups, RWA, RYTF and RAA, agreed it was especially important to make this event special, given the post-Sandy year Rockaway kids and their families have had.
