For Curran’s It’s Now Official

Long established and loved on Beach 129th Street, Curran’s Superior Meats decided to move to Beach 116th Street after Sandy and start a new chapter. Although it operated during the summer months, Curran’s will have its official grand opening and reveal its new storefront on Monday, October 21st at 12:30 p.m.

The new storefront comes thanks to the City’s Storefront Improvement program.

Launched as a pilot in May, the program helps repair storefronts and creates a cohesive image for the Beach 116th Street commercial corridor. To date, more than $400,000 was awarded to 26 businesses, with eight storefronts complete and construction underway on all remaining businesses. Citi Community Development provided $250,000 for the program, which was matched by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, totaling $500,000.

Curran’s new home has already been a boost for the block. Shoppers who routinely went to Beach 129th Street now make their way to Beach 116th Street because, they say, Curran’s is worth the trip.
