Shut Up! No, really it is. Therefore, our galleries in Fort Tilden (part of the National Park Service) are also shut down. Soooooooooo …Check your news sources (of course that includes The Wave) and/or contact RAA to find out if and when this changes.

The Rockaway Theatre Company’s “Boeing, Boeing,” a ‘non-stop comedy,’ directed by Peggy Page Press and Michael Wotypka, was to have its final weekend October 4, 5, 6 at the Post Theater, Fort Tilden. However, call 718- 374-6400 or visit rockawaytheatrecompany.org when the shutdown unshuts, or gets off the pot, to see if any extensions are planned.

The kidsmART After-School Program:

Program sites at PS 104Q and PS/MS 114Q, which are scheduled to open on October 21st, 2013, will not be affected by the shutdown since they are located in New York City public schools. During this period, we will seek out alternate venues to conduct some programs.

The free kidsmART after-school program offers high-quality, hands-on visual and performing arts workshops. Children in grades K-8 are eligible. Open enrollment (no cut-off date). The program will be housed in PS/MS 114 and on a future date in Building T-149 in Fort Tilden. All children attending public, parochial or home school are welcome at either site. Children may attend a maximum of two days per week.

Register your child by going to the RAA website (see below) and click on Education. Print out and complete the downloadable application and drop it off or mail it to our office at: RAA/260 Beach 116 Street/Rockaway Park, NY 11694. Office hours are 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

So the members of our entire community are invited to participate and express their emotions, thoughts, creative responses. We are all a part of the Calm/Storm/Rebirth of Rockaway and its surrounding communities.
