Pow! The New Black Belts
Diana Kuznitz and Jalilah Alli became fully recognized Black Belts in the Shotokan Karate style of Martial Arts. They now hold the rank of Shodan (first level Black Belt) while Dylan Kuznitz attained the rank of Black Belt apprentice known as Shodan-Ho.
The process from Black Belt apprentice to full Shodan consists of a year of intense training, teaching and service to the Dojo.
After completing these requirements Sensei Bruce Hodes reviews his evaluation with his teacher Sensei Ray Dalke (head of our Shotokan organization) for his final approval.
The lineage of Black Belts continues from Sensei Gichin Funakoshi (founder of the Shotokan Karate Style) to Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama to Sensei Ray Dalke to Sensei Bruce Hodes to Diana and Jalilah.
This lineage is important as it insures the continuity of the style and its basis the Kata or forms are being taught as prescribed by the original masters. Sensei Hodes offered his heartiest congratulations to Diana, Jalilah and Dylan on behalf of himself and the World Champions Karate Center.
