October 1st is an important day here in the Rockaways, because we have a chance to elect a Public Advocate who will fight for our families – Daniel Squadron.
Rockaway residents know what it feels like to be ignored by City Hall. As Public Advocate, Daniel will work with us and make sure we have a voice.
We’ve both worked with Daniel in Albany, and we know he’s not afraid of a tough fight. He took on Mayor Bloomberg during Sandy, when it became clear that there were major holes in the city’s response. He organized hundreds of volunteers, and went door to door in his district with interpreters making sure people got evacuated and received the help they needed.
He’s also been a big supporter of ferry service, and as Public Advocate he’ll make sure our ferry keeps running and stays affordable. He secured funding from the MTA for increased bus and subway service, and will fight for better public transit in every neighborhood. He’ll fight for children, seniors and other vulnerable New Yorkers, and give parents more of a say in our schools. He’ll work to reduce the burden on small business owners, and make sure our streets stay safe from violence.
But the only way he can deliver for us in the Rockaways is if everyone comes out to vote in the Democratic Runoff on October 1st. Please join us and help elect Daniel Squadron, a real champion for working New Yorkers.
