Participatory Budgeting Kicks Off October 3rd
Want a say in how your tax dollars are spent in the community? Then save the date for the first District 32 Committee Participatory Budgeting meeting on Thursday, October 3rd.
The meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus at 333 Beach 90th Street, will allow community members to have a say in the community’s budget. Last year, more than $1.5 million dollars were allocated to various projects around Rockaway and Broad Channel and the participatory budgeting momentum is growing as new Council members, such as Donovan Richards are participating in Participatory Budgeting (PB) in their districts this year.
The District Committee plays a vital role in planning PB and making it an inclusive process for everyone in the community. This first meeting will include the planning and announcing of the neighborhood assemblies and outreach for the assemblies. New leadership is invited to join and boost the District Committee each year. Those who have not been a District Committee member before, but are interested, should attend the meeting.
The District Committee is a great way to support PB, gain leadership experience and get involved in the community.
Those interested in attending should RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
