Photo by Dan Guarino Despite the rainy weather, creative spirits hit the beach on Saturday, September 21st, as the Rockaway Artists Alliance hosted an open air “paint out.”

Nearly a dozen painters, watercolorists, sketchers and even some photographers came to capture the boardwalk, beach and ocean at Beach 86th Street. One painter even came in from upstate.

A few enterprising artists painted scenes from inside Ripper’s concession until the clouds parted and the sun came through.

RAA is looking forward to planning future art outings, possibly also including creative visits to botanical gardens and museums.
