Harold Levine, a postal worker and business owner, died this week at age 96.
Born and raised in Rockaway, Levine graduated from Far Rockaway High School in 1935 and served as a sergeant in WWII in the Army Air Corps as a bombardier in England. He earned a Purple Heart after being wounded. Levine went on to work at several Rockaway Post Offices and owned the Park & Hobby Center on Beach 116th Street for many years.
Levine is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Fannie Levine and wife, Muriel Gliboff. He is survived by his second wife; his children, Jack (Pam), Nathan (Trish) and Joanne; grandsons, Jeremy and Seth and great-grandchildren, Emma and Bobby.
A burial was held at Bushnell National Cemetery in Florida.
