Honey Fest: Big Buzz On Boardwalk

By Dan Guarino

Photos by Dan Guarino Photos by Dan Guarino The Third Annual New York City Honey Festival came to the boardwalk at Beach 86th Street for a daylong event on Saturday, September 7th.

Hundreds swarmed through the festival which offered painting, puppet making and face painting for children and a variety of tastes, sights and sounds for grown-ups.

Presented by the Brooklyn Grange Rooftop and the Rockaway Beach Club, and hosted by Rippers, the event introduced visitors to the world of bees and urban beekeeping, and products ranging from spicy organic honey to candles and cosmetics, to beeswax sculptures and honey derived soda pop.

Bee related finery and costumes and impromptu strolling musicians added to the day.
