The exhibition will be on view from Saturday, September 7th through Sunday, October 13th at RAA’s sTudio 7 gallery at Fort Tilden.
Also struck by Hurricane Sandy last October, this marks RAA’s fourth successful exhibition since the storm.
Dozens of artists will be sharing their unique talents and points of view in sculpture, photography, wood cut, illustration, painting, textile arts, assemblage and more.
Many of the artists will be on hand for the reception, which will also feature refreshments and live music.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to share my work,” said one community artist.
Prizes will be awarded for Best in Show, Best in Photography, Best in Painting, Best in Mixed Media, Best in Poetry and more.
Founded by a dedicated group of Rockaway and Broad Channel artists in 1994, Rockaway Artists Alliance is now poised to celebrate its 20th year.
“We are very thankful to all the volunteers, all the groups, organizations and individuals who have helped us come back from the storm,” said Dan Guarino, RAA president.
“We are also proud to be part of Rockaways recovery and promote healing through art.
“Moving forward, we are looking to rebuild RAA- its buildings, its programs, its organization and place in the community not just back the way it was, but bigger and better than ever.” sTudio 7 gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4 and by special appointment.
The Rockaway Artists Alliance works in partnership with the National Park Service.
