ARTSPLASH is RAA’s annual Fall arts festival. Artists are free to explore any theme and all genres and mediums in this juried show. Awards will be given for ‘Best in’ a variety of categories. Exhibition dates are September 7- October 13. Reception is Sunday, September 8. Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday 12-4 p.m. Admission is free to exhibit and reception.

With ARTSPLASH just around the corner, RAA is already calling artists to the next exhibit on the horizon. “Calm/Storm/Rebirth,” to be on view October 19-November 10, will be a very personal, intimate expression for most of the artists moved to enter this juried show. Coming at the one-year anniversary of Super Storm Sandy, “Calm/Storm/Rebirth” invites artists to explore any one or all three of the following phases of the experience that was/is “Sandy,” under one entry fee: ‘Calm’ – Before the storm the beauty and joy we know as the Rockaways were unperturbed and artwork should reflect this concept. ‘Storm’ – When Super Storm Sandy came ashore into Rockaway, it brought disaster never before known here and artwork will show the effects of “Sandy.” ‘Rebirth’ – Rebuilding, restoring, replanting gardens, reopening businesses, and bringing the community back to life.
