Paddle On Up For Charity

The West End Paddlers have announced that the biggest paddle event of the summer is taking place right here in Rockaway.

The “king of the paddlers,” the group states, “will be crowned” at the Uncle Richie Paddle on Saturday, August 24th. The annual event, a benefit which raises funds to fight epilepsy, will be held at the Rockaway Point Yacht Club in Breezy Point.

There will be an Elite eight mile paddle, a Fun Paddle at three miles and three Kid’s Paddles. There are paddles for everyone and there will be free lessons starting at 8 a.m. Sign in is at 9 a.m.

All paddlers are welcome, including kayaks, SUP (Stand Up Paddle) and Prone boarding.

The Rockaway Point Yacht Club is located at 2-45 Bayside Avenue in Breezy Point.

West End Paddlers is a SUP (Stand Up Paddle Boarding) Organization based in Rockaway. As they state on their Facebook page, “Our goals are to promote the sport of paddle boarding and raise awareness for charitable causes.”
