Listen up, runners.
Coming up just around the curve is the Labor Day Half Marathon on Saturday, August 31st at 8 a.m. The event is part of the Rocapulco Rockaway Running Series.
Race day number pick up will be from 7 - 7:45 a.m. at The Irish Circle, Beach 102nd Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard.
Rocapulco organizers said, “Super Storm Sandy may have wrecked our boardwalk but not our spirit.”
The race will start and finish on Shore Front Parkway at Beach 102nd Street. The course will be a looping east to west and will include some of what is left of our boardwalk.
Then there is a 5K run on Sunday, September 15th at 9 a.m. Presented by the Rockaway Beach Civic Association this very special community event is a fundraiser for the 95th Street Landscape Beautification and ‘Welcome To Rockaway Beach’ Sign Project.
The Run/Walk begins at Beach 108th Street and Shore Front Parkway. The course will run inside the street barricades, down to Beach 73rd Street and back.

Also coming up, The Rockaway Gliders will be hosting training for high school and college cross-country and adult beginners to advanced marathon runs. These will be at the Beach Channel High School track on Mondays and Thursdays starting at 6:30 p.m. from August 12th to August 29th. Also Saturdays at 8 a.m. on August 17th and August 24th.
