Resource Day in Rockaway

By Miriam Rosenberg

Employment and service providers, entertainment and food were highlights of the 13th Annual Rockaway Resource Day sponsored by the 101th Precinct and its community council, along with Councilman Donovan Richards.

Some of the organizations represented along the promenade from Beach 17th Street down to Beach 9th Street on Seagirt Boulevard were the Department of Youth and Community Development, the Rockaway Youth Task Force, Health Plus, Swim Strong, Ocean Bay Development Corporation and the New York City Fire Department. St. John’s Episcopal Hospital and the Visiting Nurse Services both provided blood pressure screenings.

A photo exhibition entitled ‘Summer After Sandy’ was also featured.

The event took place at the newly renovated O’Donohue Park in Far Rockaway.

It was immediately followed by the National Night Out Against Crime annual event.
