Photo by Dan Guarino More than 100 people enjoyed the music, the movement and the quick steps of Zumba Under The Stars at the hockey rink at Beach 108th Street and Shore Front Parkway on Wednesday, July 24th.

Many stayed to enjoy the free family movie “Brave” afterwards.

Zumba, a popular form of exercise and dance, combines Latin and African dance steps and helps people of all ages keep in shape and have fun.

Presented by the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation and sponsored by Sweet N Low, the program runs from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and is scheduled for every Wednesday through August 28th. Similar programs are being offered at different locations throughout the Rockaway peninsula.

NYC Parks is offering a wide variety of free films, programs, children’s activities, live theatre, puppet shows and more this summer.

In addition The Rockaway Civic Association is presenting free films at the beach at a different Rockaway location every week.
