Cool Phones Beat The Heat
With the summer heat rolling on, AT&T has offered a number of things cellphone users can do to prevent the weather from damaging their smartphones – or even themselves.
In a media release, the telecommunications company offered the following advice:
Keep your phone in a cool place - don’t leave your phone in a hot car or trunk. Mobile phones can retain heat very quickly.
Never handle a phone when it’s too hot to touch. Bring it to a cool place and leave it alone until it’s safe to touch. This can be dangerous. Certain mobile devices may actually warn you from using the device until it cools down.
Keep your phone protected when you go to the beach or pool – An Otterbox cover is a good option, but plastic baggies can work just as well. Try to keep your phone in a shady, or covered, spot while you’re taking a dip.
AT&T also offers several app downloads that can help New Yorkers cope with hot and uncomfortable weather.
These include applications that will remind you to stay hydrated, keep track of your drinking habits (water only), help you pick out clothing based on the forecast, find one of 5,300 North American beach spots, check weather conditions including UV index forecasts and even help find camp sites across the U.S. For more information, go to www.at&t.com.
