Multitalented Rockaway musician Guy Nevirs brought a host of talent to Connolly’s Bar for his inaugural acoustic open mic show on Tuesday, July 9th.

Hosting a wide variety of both local and visiting musicians, Nevirs set off a rousing opening for what will become a regular feature at the popular bar located near Shore Front Parkway.

The night included new takes on classic covers as well as originals that had the crowd moving, clapping and cheering.

The many musicians who came to play and to listen were especially impressed with the variety of music and often powerful vocal performances.

“It was great, absolutely great,” said one Broad Channel singer/guitarist who opened the show. “People definitely should come down for this.”

Nevirs will be hosting this acoustic showcase every Tuesday night, with sign up starting at 8:15 p.m. and music starting at 9 p.m.

Connolly’s owners Jeff Aquilante and Kerry Ann Daly, greeting guests, talked about the damage to their business from Hurricane Sandy and how pleased they were to be back open.

Connolly’s, which reopened last month, is at 155 Beach 95th Street.
