FDNY Captain Laid to Rest

A funeral was held on Tuesday for retired FDNY Capt. Peter Casey. The funeral mass took place at St. Genevieve’s Church in Roxbury.

Casey, a longtime summer resident of Roxbury, retired in 2002 after 33 years on the job. On July 3rd, he lost his battle with 9/11 related Multiple Myeloma at the age of 67. During his career, Casey was a firefighter in E- 249/L-113 and E-301, a Lieutenant in L-104 and a Captain in E-212. He was also a Vietnam Veteran with the U.S. Marine Corps and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral services were held at the McManus Funeral Home in Brooklyn on July 7th and 8th and the mass was held on Tuesday in Roxbury. Several fellow FDNY members attended and the bagpipers from the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums guided the procession. A cremation took place at Greenwood Crematory.

Casey leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Lynn; daughter, Christa; sons, Michael (Leigh) and Brian (Ashley); brother, Jack Casey and sisters, Kathleen Preziosi and Mary Colleran.
